Always Connected (2022)

Always Connected is a reflective piece, based on the ‘always on, always connected’ mindset that new technologies, particularly social medias, have afforded us. The soundscape of insistent notification sounds, interweaved with sounds of interference reflect my own experiences of being unable to escape my digital life.

I would love to develop Always Connected into a sound installation, or physical performance. The piece would invite people to sit in a room, with benches of different materials (wood, metal, perhaps percussive instruments) and ask them to switch with their phone notifications on either loud volume or vibrate and just leave them, whilst also attempting to detach from the sounds in this environment, I think it would be interesting to record the feelings they felt during this process, and to explore the sound environment that this would create.
